Sally is preparing for her wedding in sunny Queensland and her mother
Lyn (who is suffering from the break up of her own marriage) flies in to
lend a hand. After a road trip that leaves several casualties along the
way Sally and Lyn arrive at Sally’s brother Mark’s house hoping Lyn will
be invited to stay. Mark is fed up with all the wedding plans “Sally’s
driving me bonkers with all this wedding shit! Bloody waste of money I
reckon! What’s wrong with a barby in the backyard? All of us blokes hate
weddings!”
Meanwhile back in Wellington, Pat (Lyn’s Mum) and Marlene (Lyn’s Aunty)
are planning their trip to Queensland for the big event. Marl and her long
suffering husband own a motel and Marl takes great pleasure in relating
horrible stories of the goings on in the motel. Pat is adjusting to her
husband’s retirement “It was lovely when he retired…at first! Now it’s
making him lunch and tea every day … women never retire from housework!”
The ladies make the trek to Queensland and meet up with Lyn in a cheap
motel in Queensland (while Marl’s luggage goes to Fiji). Heat, stress of
wedding plans and Lyn’s interference leave Sally dithering on whether to
proceed with the wedding “I’m fed up with her ,…I’m fed up with you …
and I’m fed up to here with him!”. Hilarious happenings and disasters
leave everyone asking “Is It On Or Off”?
