The girls on murderer's row of Cook County Jail invite you to witness a
story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery, and
treachery - all those things we all hold near and dear to our hearts.
Chicago will be staged at Porirua Little Theatre from 21 March - 14 April.
Tickets are available through Toyworld, Porirua 237.6958 Based on a 1926
play by Chicago Tribune reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago tells the
story of Roxie Hart, a chorus girl who murders her lover, then manages not
only to delay the hangman's noose with the help of razzle-dazzle lawyer
Billy Flynn, but uses the trial to propel herself to showbiz stardom along
with another murderous chorus girl, Velma Kelly. A dark parable of
American justice, Chicago is a sexy musical extravaganza that contains
nudity, coarse language and several show-stopping numbers such as "All
That Jazz," "Razzle Dazzle" and "Class.
